June's installment of our monthly Introducing show at 229 brings you a stunning line up of Indie from around the UK all headlined by the fabulous Francis & Boyd. After impressing a mammoth crowd at Absent Kelly's recent Scala show with Bloc Party, Francis & Boyd are back, this time topping the bill

Their beautiful mix of folk and Indie gives them a touch of the Mumfords and translates wonderfully live, their energy on stage is just totally electric

The bill is also being graced by Nottingham Indie, Brit Poppers, The Swiines

Gaining slots on Radio 1 and having shared the stage with acts such as The Subways, The Rifles and White Lies, this is definitely a band with credentials

Frontman Scott Bugg is also cousin and former band mate of one of the biggest young men in Indie right now, Jake Bugg

And if these two bands weren't enough we've got a handful more for you on top

Weird Naked Indian play sublime, wonderfully executed acoustic rock and have impressed many critics and seen them playing alongside such big names as Paul Potts and Manic Street Preachers and they are playing alongside Alt-J the very night before this show

They have appeared on a number on national radio stations, including BBC 6Music earning them this little gem of praise from Tom Robinson; "This is the finest thing to come out of Port Talbot since Michael Sheen, this is Weird Naked Indian."

With them, as ever we're bringing you a jam-packed bill of talented emerging acts from around the UK to satisfy your musical appetite.

OQuadro deliver fired-up old school hip hop with their own unique Bahian kick

That's high-velocity conscious rap, candomblé drums and dub, ijexá and afrobeat flavours - explosive! And injecting digital beats into Bahia's powerhouse percussive traditions, Os Nelsons make the connect between Salvador and global ghettotech

They see themselves as part of the ‘hi-fi diaspora', the Afrofuturismo generation, making a new coda for MPB and dubbing it Música Periférica Brasileira - music from the disenfranchised periphery

Based in Bahia's desert zone - the sertão - Os Nelsons flip the flow with their dancehall/soukous/kuduro mashup - original sertão stylee

The Muévete Bass Culture Clash special will keep banging until late with Muevete's original formula of Movimientos DJs Arias and Cal Jader laying down heavy Latin-Caribbean-Tropical heat on the decks

From the rolling Latin rhythms of salsa, cumbia, merengue and Samba to the raw urban flavours of reggaeton, hip hop, dancehall, moombahton, baile funk and dutty carnival rhythms, incorporating a healthy dose of African beats and global underground flavour

World music to move the feet

Internationally-celebrated world musicians and jazz soloists from the Grand Union Orchestra and local guest musicians bring a lively concert of music from around the world to Rich Mix on Sunday 5th May

The show, entitled Trading Roots, features a 12-strong band in an extraordinary blend of musical styles: sinuous Indian ragas combine with Latin American salsa, Chinese melodies acquire rich jazz harmonies, Bengali songs sprout reggae bass-lines, bhangra and samba go head to head, and West African drumming and chant meets wild jazz improvisation!

An unforgettable treat for the ears and a great tonic for the feet!

Musicians include local tabla hero Yousuf Ali Khan and charismatic singers Lucy Rahman and Akash Sultan, with South African trumpeter and drummer Claude Deppa, Australian jazz star Louise Elliott (tenor sax and flute), who were the mainstays of Grand Union's recent series of Sunday shows at Rich Mix entitled Bengal to Bethnal Green

Latin-American bass guitarist Andres Lafone, multi-instrumentalist Gerry Hunt and Caribbean steel pan virtuoso Daniel Louis provide the rhythmic pulse and Zhu Xiao Meng (gu zheng) gives a touch of the oriental.

You'll be welcomed by the distinctive sounds of the open drumming circle by ghanaian collective One Drum
