I live in a part of the world that is far removed from the plague of violence that is spreading across the middle east, I can't imagine the grief and sarrow many are made to suffer during this war. The situation between Isreal and Palestine I find particularly sad, two people at war with each other. I can't imagine the pain a Isreali citizen must feel when a loved one is lost because of a neddless act of violence, and there are many who feel this pain. But I do not feel the Palestinians should be villified because they also suffer.
Isreal and Palestine are stuck in a endless cycle of violence that won't end until one side does what ever it takes to ensure peace and bring peace to these people. This war cannot be allowed to continue for it will cost many lives, far to many for us sit around and do nothing. These two people must not see each other as enemies for this perpestive will only continue the violence. One side must end the violence, end the needless loss of lives.
Some Palestinians support suicide bomber attacks in the heart of Isreal, they cannot see the value in the lives of the people they percieve as their enemy. So Palestinian zealots attack Isreal, and Isreal responds with a military attack against Palestine but this only continues the violence which claims many lives. Attack and counter-attack, an endless cycle that will not be broken until one side stops the violence.
People and Palestine and people in Isreal both suffer, both are victims while both must share responsibility for this horrible epidemic of violence for they can't see the common humanity they both share. I believe the epicenter for the entire scourge of terrorism is Isreal and Palestine and this war will not end until peace forged between these two people.
For all our little differences, our commonalities are far more important. We cannot de-humanize another without de-humanizing ourselves. If you can't see the value of anothers life then we admit there is no value to our own.
This war must end as soon as possible for many are going to pay the price, a price that is far to high.
THE UNITED STATES OF PALESTINE / ISRAEL A FEDERAL DEMOCRACY.
In my opinion history holds a time tested political formula that inspires peace called a federal democracy.
Federal democracies have municipalities that form state borders. Then the states borders joined together form country borders. The citizens of all states are equally protected under a federal constitution.
One federal law, one common currency, one federal army and intigrated police foreces. Shared greatest world recognized international borders and a shared capitol.
To create a federal democracy the existing state governments only need to agree to yield certain powers to a new additional layer of government and allow for more politicians.
The new proposed federal constitution should in my opinion have an equal number of seats from each state with a non-voting speaker.
Structural equality means only good ideas rule when neither side can ever have a majority. All the typical federal ministries can be headed by an integrated committee rather than one side ever being in power and the other side reduced to complaining like the imperfect western democracies.
Arabs and Jews in reality have a lot in common and can kiss and make up once this land conflict is resolved fairly. Here is the historical way other great countries ended land wars and how former enemies now live in peace. Other people have hated each other too and eventually resolved things politically by sharing, not dividing.
Canada is the closest federal democracy to the promised states of Israel and Palestine because of the similar language differences, religious differences and a long bloody history of war and hatred to overcome together. Federalism is a political system used by many countries in various forms today, everybody gets everything.
Before 1867 the English, the French and the Native's all believed Canada was all theirs. They would kill and die fighting over it for hundreds of years. We can only understand the Palestine / Israel conflict of today by studying the history of Canada to see what is really going on historically.
I do not think the early French and Native peoples would ever have stopped fighting back if they were not offered equal citizenship rights to the whole country that they had been fighting for all along.
The English won the peace with spiritually pleasing ideas and did not say you losers get only one province and some reservations we get the rest. The English shared their prosperity with their enemies and over time old enemies became friends. The founding fathers of Canada were wiser than the Israeli and Palestinian leaders of today because they were inclusive and not segregationists.
I do not think the native populations would have accepted fragmented reservations or the French people accept just one French speaking province if equal citizenship borders were not on the table first before the internal borders were finalized. Would any Chief sign a deal reducing his former lands to only a reservation knowing the deal he signed prevents all future generations from visiting Ottawa the capitol.
The natives in Canada became equal citizens and the whole of Canada is their country too from coast to coast. Also a French man born in Quebec is a citizen of every inch of Canada and he can work and live anywhere he chooses as an equal. The founding fathers were inclusive and did not divide for peace saying this part is yours and this part is mine here is the line.
Quebec's final province/state borders and government like Hebrew remain French language first even if the majority of the population becomes English so the French are not afraid of more English moving in to Quebec. The federation borders are final borders and the French language is well protected.
In my opinion the Balfore Declaration promise of two states on one land is like good old King Solomon saying . . . So you both claim the baby Holyland is your baby alone right ? The selfish children say yes in my book it's all mine.
King Solomon: Well OK then, I'll split up the baby holyland and deny you both, does that sound good ? One side says OK divide it up if it means peace and the other side says, no don't divide it a baby can have more than one parent, lets talk about joint custody.
The side that loves the land more will agree to share it rather than see it divided denying the religious extremes on both sides, please test my theory. Equality is the only solution and it is achieved historically to end war with Federalism.
